Mini Barracudas

What are the Mini Barracudas?

The Mini team is specifically for swimmers who can swim but are not ready for the endurance and distances required for the main team.

We hope that our Mini Barracudas have a fun and positive experience and that we can help foster a love of swimming for years to come!  We focus on building confidence and stamina in the water as well and improving stroke technique.

Placement on the mini or main team is completely at the Head Coach's discretion.

Are Mini Barracudas part of the team?

Yes, Mini Barracudas are registered members of the team.  They are included in all team functions, and included in the end of the season banquet. Mini Barracuda parents are included in all the team emails and communications.

ELIGIBILITY:

Mini Barracudas: The mini team is open to anyone 4 through 7 years old (age based on 6/15/2026). We ask that NEW swimmers under age 7 contact us to schedule an evaluation BEFORE signing up as a Mini Barracuda.

What swimming experience is required?

Mini Barracudas must be comfortable in the water and have some swim experience.  They must be able to swim 12.5 meters (1/2 the length of the pool) both front facing and on their backs. Swimmers should be comfortable in a group setting and able to follow directions from their coaches.  Evaluations will be held prior to practices starting, and if your swimmer does not meet those requirements we recommend swim lessons thorough Ida Lee or another outlet to prepare them for next season.

REGISTRATION:

When is registration?

Registration will open on Friday, March 20.  Late registration will open May 1.

How much is registration?

Registration is $180 per swimmer for regular registration and $200 per swimmer for late registration.

How long is the summer swim season?

The season begins May 27 at our first practice and ends July 25.

PRACTICES:

When are practices?

Mini practice times are located on the "Practice" tab.

Do you have to attend all practices?

No. While we encourage swimmers to attend as many practices as they can, we understand that summers are filled with family vacations, camps, and other commitments. We do not take attendance at any practices.

What equipment is needed for practices?

Please bring goggles, a towel, and a water bottle. We also encourage swimmers to bring their own fins as we only have very few team fins in limited sizes. Swimwear is required, but there is no mandatory practice suit.

Can family members use the pool during practices?

During morning practices the pool is closed to anyone except those practicing. The baby pool and the beach are are NOT open. Swimmers are allowed to practice during their specific practice time and then must exit the pool. Family members may use the pool if it is open during evening practices.

What if practice is cancelled?

Summer usually means thunderstorms. If a practice is cancelled for any reason, we will send out notifications through our website and Facebook. Please pay close attention, sometimes the weather changes quickly and practice might be cancelled with little notice depending on weather and other circumstances. We try our best to keep you informed and make the call as early as we can.

MEETS:

Do Mini Barracudas swim in Main Team meets?

No. Unless the Head Coaches move your swimmer to the main team for meets, you do not sign your Mini Barracuda up for main team meets.

Do Mini swimmers have their own meets?

YES!  We work with other local teams with mini programs to proved "Mini Meets".  Mini Meets are usually held Monday or Thursday mornings.  They are fun and a great way to introduce new swimmers to competition swimming.

VOLUNTEERING:

Do Mini Barracuda parents volunteer?

Yes, parents of Mini Barracudas must still fulfill volunteer hours.  Some may be at Mini Meets but some may be at main team meets.
